The Austin page exists so an owner in that metro can see what we will and will not claim. We do not have city pages for Austin's suburbs. We will look at an address.
The five counties in the federal definition
OMB Bulletin 23-01 titles the area Austin–Round Rock–San Marcos and lists Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis and Williamson counties. The principal cities in that bulletin are Austin, Round Rock, San Marcos and Georgetown. If your house is in one of those cities, or in Bastrop, Lockhart or another town in those counties, this is the page. There is no second URL pretending to be a Round Rock guide.
Travis County records
Most of the city of Austin is in Travis County. The appraisal district for that county is the place that values the house and handles homestead exemptions. The Comptroller's Travis County directory names the appraisal district and the offices that collect. A house on the Williamson County side of the metro is not a Travis County file. The county line decides the appraisal district, the tax office and the clerk who recorded the deed. Search the address on the notice you already received before you drive to the wrong counter.
Property tax protests follow Tax Code Section 41.44: a written protest is due by May 15 or 30 days after the appraisal notice was delivered, whichever is later. That deadline is statewide. It is not an Austin ordinance.
What a sale looks like here
A one-unit home still needs the seller's disclosure under Property Code Section 5.008 unless an exemption applies. The resale contract, when one is used, is TREC No. 20-19. A title company in the county collects payoffs, prorates taxes and records the deed. None of that requires a city page.
Condos along the central corridors follow the condo resale certificate rules, not the house form. A lot in Hays or Bastrop County that is still under agricultural appraisal should be read against the vacant-land page and Tax Code Section 23.55 before anyone assumes the taxes will stay at the ag value.
What we will not invent
We will not quote an Austin median price, a days-on-market figure, or a neighborhood ranking on this page. Those numbers go stale and they are not a substitute for your address. We also will not say we have a Round Rock office or a San Marcos team. The company address is on the contact page. A real person calls you back.
How this page connects to the rest of the site
Go up to the Texas hub for Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. The DFW city pages are the only long city list we publish. Situation pages that apply in Austin the same way they apply in Dallas include repairs, fire damage and a sale during bankruptcy.
Ask about an Austin-area address
You can sell as-is, without repairs. We pay all closing costs, and we can close in 7–14 days when title is clear. There is no agent commission. Asking is free and carries no obligation, and a real person calls you back. Use the form and name the city, or read how it works.
Williamson, Hays and the other counties
Round Rock and Georgetown are in Williamson County. San Marcos straddles Hays County. The Comptroller keeps a directory page for each county, on the same pattern as the Travis page linked above. Open the directory for the county on your appraisal notice. Homestead exemptions are in Tax Code Section 11.13. Eligibility for a given year is generally judged as of January 1 under Section 11.42. Moving to Austin from another Texas city does not automatically move the exemption. Ask the appraisal district that has your current homestead before you assume both houses are covered.
If you still own a house in Dallas–Fort Worth and you are buying or renting here, the DFW house is the one our city pages describe. This page is only for an address inside the five Austin-area counties. Do not send a Fort Worth address through this page and expect Austin-specific county steps.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have pages for Round Rock, Cedar Park or San Marcos?
No. Bulletin 23-01 includes those cities in the Austin metro. This site has this metro page and no separate suburb pages.
Which county office values an Austin house?
If the house is in Travis County, start with the Comptroller's Travis County directory for the appraisal district. A Williamson or Hays County address uses that county's district instead.
Can you close on a house in Bastrop or Caldwell County?
Send the address. Those counties are inside the federal metro. We look at them case by case. A city page is not required for us to review an address.
Is the disclosure different in Austin?
Section 5.008 is statewide for a one-unit residence. Austin does not have a substitute disclosure statute on this page.
